Renodesk is a web app for tracking and forecasting home renovation costs, operated from the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, contact hello@renodesk.app.
Waiting list. If you join the waiting list we store your email address, your name if you gave one, the exact consent statement you agreed to, and when you agreed. We use this only to email you about Renodesk's launch and progress. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your account. If you create an account we store your email, name, and password (cryptographically hashed — we never see it). Legal basis: providing the service you signed up for.
Your renovation data. Properties, projects, expenses, estimates, budgets and similar records you enter belong to you and exist solely to make the app work for you. We don't sell them, share them with advertisers, or mine them.
Technical data. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and reliability. The app stores your sign-in session and theme preference in your browser; we don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Product analytics. We use privacy-friendly product analytics (PostHog, EU-hosted) to understand which features are used and where people get stuck, so we can improve the app. It runs in a cookieless mode — no analytics cookies are stored on your device, so no cookie banner is needed under UK PECR — and we don't record your screen or capture what you type into forms. Events are tied to your account only after you sign in. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving a service you use.
Receipt & document scanning. When you upload a receipt or forward one by email, we read it to pre-fill the cost details so you don't have to type them. This runs first with our own free text extraction; only when that can't read a document do we send its text to an AI provider (Google Gemini) to pull out the details. We send only what's needed to read that one document, keep just the structured result, and your documents are not used to train any model. Legal basis: providing the service you signed up for.
Data is stored with Supabase (database and authentication) and the site is served by Vercel (hosting). Privacy-friendly product analytics use PostHog (EU-hosted). Documents you forward by email are received through Resend, and receipts we can't read with our own extraction are processed by Google(Gemini). All act as processors on our behalf under their own GDPR commitments. We don't share your personal data with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Waiting list entries are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed, or until launch communications end. Account and renovation data are kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete your account or ask us to.
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how it's used, and withdraw consent for emails at any time (every update email includes an unsubscribe route, or just reply and ask). Email hello@renodesk.app and we'll act on it promptly. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update this page and, where appropriate, email registered users and waiting-list members before the change takes effect.
